TN Budget 2019-SICCI

PRESS STATEMENT BY MR. R. GANAPATHI, PRESIDENT, SICCI ON THE TAMIL NADU BUDGET 2019

SICCI compliments the Growth Oriented Budget presented by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and finance minister, Thiru. O Panneerselvam presented the state budget for 2019-2020 today in the Legislative Assembly.

We welcome Government for maintaining the fiscal deficit within 3% of GSDP and projected 2.39% in 2020-2021 and 2.25% in 2021-2022 which implies the status of Tamil Nadu as a fiscally disciplined state. Hon’ble Finance Minister has allocated funds for key areas of economic growth from agriculture, animal husbandry, infrastructure, urban housing, MSME, industry and IT.

Over Rs.10,000/- crores has been allocated for agricultural growth for various activities including water for micro irrigation, solar power pumps for farmers upto 10HP capacity etc., The announcement of 2000 farmers group and 100 FPOs with financial allocation of Rs.100 crores is a step in right direction. A special scheme for fruits and augmentation, institutionalized vegetable seed production are innovative and much needed fillip for the in the food processing sector. The creation of special agro export promotion cell will benefit value addition for agri products and also facilitate export earnings.

The Government to procure 12000 new BS-VI buses and 2,000 new electric buses is another measure not only to provide effective public transport system but also Government’s intention to have a clean and pollution free in the transport system. SICCI welcomes the establishment of new autonomous body for MSME viz., SICCI welcomes MSME Trade and investment promotion Bureau and we are confident that the members of the Bureau from the industry to give suggestions for the government for the improvement of MSME from Tamil Nadu.

The creation of Centre for Excellence for emerging technologies TNeGA to serve people better is forethought and we appreciate the Government’s intention. SICCI congratulates Hon’ble Finance Minister for presenting growth oriented budget and we are confident that the schemes announced will be implemented in a time bound manner.
