Election Commission’s voters verification programme in TN


The  Election Commission of India will launch the Electors Verification
Programme (EVP) on 01.09.2019 for Special Summary Revision, 2020 with reference to 01.01.2020 as the qualifying date. 

According to an official release, the main objective of this programme is to improve the health and have a error free electoral roll. This programme will be functional from 01.09.2019 to 30.09.2019. In this programme the electors can verify their electoral details through the following ways.

a. Voter Help Line 1950 (for PwDs)
b. Mobile App, (Voters help line)
c. National Voters Service Portal (nvsp.in),
d. by visiting Common Service Centres (CSCs)
e. by visiting Voters Facilitation Centres (VFCs)
f. Submitting hard copy of filled up forms through BLOs to EROs.

The electors can authenticate their details relating thereto, by submitting a
copy of one of the following documents:-

a.Indian Passport
b.Driving License
c.Aadhaar Card
d.Ration Card
e.Any other document as approved by Election
Commission of India viz.

Birth certificate issued by Municipal Authorities or district office of
the Registrar of Births & Deaths or Baptism certificate; or
 Birth certificate from the school (Govt. / Recognised) last attended by
the applicant or any other recognised educational institution; or
 If a person is class 10 or more pass, he should give a copy of the
marksheet of class 10, if it contains date of birth as a proof of date of
birth; or
 Marksheet of class 8 if it contains date of birth; or
 Marksheet of class 5 if it contains date of birth; or
 Bank / Kisan / Post Office current Pass Book, or
 Income Tax Return filed or Assessment Order, or
 Latest Water / Telephone / Electricity / Gas Connection Bill for that
address, either in the name of the applicant or that of his / her
immediate relation like parents etc., or
 Postal department’s posts received / delivered in the applicant’s
name at the given address.

To facilitate this process 8095 Nos. of Common Service Centres (CSCs), 661 Nos. of Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Centres (TACTV) and 1001 TACTV allied Centres and 97 Nos. of Voters Facilitation Centres (VFC) are set up at all Electoral Registeration Officers (ERO) Offices. All these centres are setup at Village/Taluk/ERO/ District levels. Hence the electors can utilize the above facilities for authentication and enrolment of themselves.
